The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including aging, Alzheimer, bioorganic chemistry, biomaterial, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, immunology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 250 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in Neo at Campus Flemingsberg, a biomedical research building, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Your mission

We offer a position as a Researcher in the area of ‘Protein inheritance in asymmetric cell division’ at the department of Biosciences and Nutrition, Karolinska Institutet.
The successful applicant is expected to initiate and contribute in research projects especially within ‘Protein inheritance in asymmetric cell division’. The main research focus will be to develop new methodology and study mechanisms of protein inheritance in yeast cells. The successful applicant is also expected to apply for external funding as well as collaborate with national and international research groups.

The position is a 75 % permanent position.

Qualifications

To qualify the applicant must hold a Ph.D. in Medicine and have experience in leading a research group and supervising PhD students. The applicant must have a history of qualitative scientific production and experience of managing research activities in the field of Protein inheritance in asymmetric cell division.

It is also required that the applicant has documented experience in yeast genetics, cell biology and microscopy, with specific expertise in the development of in vivo reporters to follow protein dynamics and inheritance.

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Your profile

A person is eligible to be appointed Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after the defense of his or her doctoral thesis.
