We work on precision cancer medicine research in a translational setting, with the aim to assign and optimize targeted treatments for individual cancer patients. Our goal is to develop a systems biology framework to match targeted therapies and drug combinations using omics- profiling along with functional ex vivo drug testing on primary cells from cancer patients. We engage in team science with other research groups, health care, industry both nationally and internationally. This position resides in the research group of Olli Kallioniemi, Director of Science for Life Laboratory, Professor of Molecular Precision Medicine, affiliated with both the Dept. Oncology and Pathology, Karolinska Institutet and the Science for Life Laboratory.

Your mission

This position provides an opportunity to co-ordinate important translational projects in precision cancer medicine and to engage in planning exciting new research projects and funding opportunities. You will be a key part of an international and dynamic research group in the SciLifeLab environment. You will be part of our daily research activities, with a broad focus on co-ordination, finances and reporting. You would work closely with the PIs and the senior members of the team.  The main task for this position includes, 1) coordinating existing grants and planning allocations of people and resources, 2) planning and coordinating new grant applications and collaborations, 3) organizing group meetings and retreats, and other types of project coordination, 4) follow up of existing human resources and support new recruitment, and 5) follow-up and reporting of projects and grants, including monitoring milestones and deliverables. We offer an exciting, cutting-edge environment where you would serve as a bridge between scientists in our group and the infrastructure, administration, HR, and finance environment at KI and SciLifeLab. This position requires a high level of independence, resourcefulness, attention to detail and good planning skills.

Your profile

The successful candidate is expected to have a life science background, with a degree biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, genetics, medicine or other relevant field. The ideal candidate would also understand precision medicine and cancer research. The candidate is independent and motivated with a documented ability to carry out project management and co-ordination. Excellent communication skills in spoken and written Swedish and English. Experience and/or training in project/grant management is important, writing of research protocols and financial planning and follow-up, are considered valuable.
