The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. The Division of Clinical Geriatric ,one of 7 divisions at NVS is now posting a one year position at the Translational Molecular Imaging Lab of professor Agneta Nordberg. The lab has a strong translational approach on in vivo molecular and in vitro brain imaging technique with aim is to characterize the complex pathophysiological features of neurodegenerative diseases, with a strong focus on Alzheimer disease but also other neurodegenerative proteinopathies. Our aims are to develop new early diagnostic markers and new drug targets for early intervention in disease process of neurodegenerative disorders.
The position is mainly focused on experimental research (70%) focusing on characterization and development of novel PET tracers for early detection of Alzheimer´s disease and other dementia disorders. The work includes neurochemical and immunohistochemical work with human samples including human brain tissues, CSF, plasma and cell lines. The applicant will in addition to research in the lab but also help the main PI in the preparation of grant applications and manuscripts. The applicant should have experience in carrying out work tasks both independently and in teams.
The role (30%) is varied and includes responsibility for
• Identification of funding opportunities and coordination of grant applications
• Preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts
• Staffing in the form of recruitment, fees, travel and expenses
• Organize and assist in meetings, scientific workshops and travel bookings
• Invoicing, follow-up to financiers and development of budget proposals
• Being a contact for various internal and external departments, collaborators and committees
We are looking for a person who has a doctoral degree in protein biochemistry with a documented research experience in neurodegenerative disorders with a strong biochemical competence. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong drive to pursue research, be organized and structured and have an ambitious and innovative attitude. The project is translational cross-disciplinary and pursued in collaboration with several research groups. Therefore good collaborative skills are necessary. The position is focused on independent and collaborative research and requires the applicant to have an excellent record of postdoctoral training, publications, conference contributions, having obtained external research funds.
