Your mission
We are seeking for a motivated and dedicated research coordinator with good team spirit to help coordinate and enable new research activities.The researcher will be part of the Translational rheumatology group at Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM), lead by Anca Catrina (for more information about our research group please visit our web site at http://ki.se/en/meds/arthritis-research-team-anca-catrina). As a research coordinator, you will be responsible for the day to day operation of the laboratory including but not limited to: develop routine lab procedures, oversee purchases and maintenance of laboratory equipment, upkeep lab supply inventories and supervise junior laboratory staff. The research program focuses on understanding the mechanisms responsible for antibody-induced bone loss using already existing as well as developing new in vitro assays for osteoclast maturation and bone loss. The position further involves a leading role in designing and performing animal experiments to test the effect of antibodies (purified from biological samples of patients with different rheumatic diseases) on bone loss, pain induction and inflammation. Our studies involve use of clinical samples such as blood cells and synovial biopsies, as well as experimental models in vivo and in vitro.

Duties
The project includes studies on patient samples, cell lines, primary cell cultures and animal models. The methods we use are both cellular and molecular immunological techniques. Previous extensive experience from work with osteoclast cultures and evaluation of osteoclast maturation and bone loss in vitro are requirements. Solid experience from mice experiments and specifically from analysis of pain behavior, as well as micro CT and MRI evaluation are needed.  Certain administrative and educational work in the context of many national and international collaborations at our unit will also be part of the work. Emphasis is therefore put on communication skills of the candidate. The applicant should have certain experience from leading a research project and had obtained at least one individual research financing.

Your profile
PhD degree in medical science.
Extensive experience with osteoclast maturation and bone loss in vitro assays.
Experience from pain behavior, micro CT and MRI evaluation in mice.
The work requires also a good collaboration ability and that you are open to learn new methods and have the capacity to solve problems. Personal suitability and scientific competence are highly valued. Good knowledge in written and spoken English is required.
