Division/Research group
The research group of Professor Sten Linnarsson is focused on single-cell biology, in particular applying single-cell and single molecule technologies to characterize the cell types and lineages of the human nervous system.

Project
The Linnarsson group is part of a major Swedish initiative, the Human Developmental Cell Atlas, which seeks to create an atlas of the developing human brain using single-cell technologies. The ultimate goal is to discover all the differentiation lineages that lead to mature neuronal types, as well as an actual three-dimensional atlas that shows molecularly defined cell types in full context.
Here, we will focus on brain development, and we note that about one third of neurological disorders have a developmental origin. We are looking for a post doc to would in a collaborative project, with the aim of functionally validating and testing hypotheses about cell lineages in the developing brain.

Requirements
To qualify, the applicant should have a PhD degree in developmental neuroscience, mammalian neurogenesis or equivalent. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of developmental neuroscience (specification of cell types by transcription factors, anatomy and morphogenesis) and an interest in neurodevelopmental related diseases. Extensive experience in teaching human neuroanatomy is highly desirable and experience in embryonic and adult brain dissection and cell culture is a requirement.
In addition, the ideal candidate is a positive and creative person with good communication skills that thrives in a challenging and innovative environment. Since there is a lot of interaction within the group high emphasis is given on being able to collaborate with the current group members.

Entry requirements
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.

Application process
An employment application must contain the following documents in English or Swedish:

  1. A complete curriculum vitae, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work
  2. A complete list of publications
  3. A summary of current work (no more than one page)
  4. three letters of recommendation

The application is to be submitted through the Varbi recruitment system.
