Research assistant to IMPAQT

The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master’s programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, about 115 PhD students and about 140 employees. 

The position is based in the research group IMPAQT (Implementation and Quality). The aim of the IMPAQT group is to generate knowledge on how to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to improve quality of care globally. 

Your mission

The research assistant will support the preparation of grant applications by assisting with proposal writing and background research in the areas of health systems research, infectious diseases and vaccination, maternal and perinatal health, and adolescent health. This includes conducting literature reviews, compiling relevant data, and helping to draft and edit sections of proposals to funding agencies. The role will contribute to the development of high-quality submissions that advance research on global health challenges and interventions. We may also ask the research assistant to contribute to other tasks depending on need. 

Your profile

Required: 

• Master's degree in Global Health or a related discipline. 
• Documented experience in research within global health, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), in areas such as health systems, infectious diseases, maternal and child health, or public health, including clinical research and participation in interdisciplinary international research collaborations, clinical trials, and research projects.
• Documented experience contributing to competitive research funding applications, particularly as part of teams applying to programmes such as EU Horizon, Vetenskapsrådet, Forte, or Vinnova. 
• Strong evidence synthesis and research skills, including conducting literature reviews and proficiency with databases (e.g. PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science) and systematic review software such as Covidence. 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Merit: 

• Publications in global public health or a related field. 
• Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis, including proficiency in relevant software (e.g. NVivo, SPSS, Stata, Excel). 
• Knowledge of research ethics and governance, including experience with ethics applications, informed consent procedures, or regulatory requirements.
