Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are looking for a Research Coordinator to join the Centre for Psychiatry Research (CPF), which is a part of the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. CPF is a knowledge hub for psychiatric disorders, with a mission to conduct internationally competitive research and to support education, quality assurance, and implementation of evidence-based methods within psychiatric and related somatic healthcare. A central objective for us is to enable equitable, scalable, and patient-safe interventions through clinically grounded treatment development and implementation-oriented research. We offer a stimulating scientific environment as well as a possibility to collaborate with other researchers both within Karolinska Institutet and internationally.

Your mission

The Research Coordinator will be involved in several pharmacoepidemiological projects that use advanced epidemiological methods and a variety of data from the Swedish health and administrative registers to explore causes and consequences of various patterns of psychotropic medication use. The Research Coordinator will be actively involved in conducting longitudinal register-based studies, particularly the studies with causal inference design (including, target trial emulation, co-twin control, and within-individual designs). The work may include assistance in conducting systematic reviews and with pedagogical tasks.

This is a 1-year position with 100% full-time equivalent. The starting date is according to agreement, but we prefer the work to start in the beginning of March 2026.

Key responsibilities:

  • Participate in designing register-based studies within the projects, including a preparation of study protocols.
  • Coordinate the collaboration with the Steering Board(s) that administrate access to register data used in the projects.
  • Lead the process of collecting and linking register data and performing data management.
  • Participate in conducting statistical analyses and compiling study results.
  • Coordinate work with collaborators within projects (e.g., by organizing meetings, sending updates on study progress).
  • Participate in disseminating scientific results (e.g., by writing manuscripts, making presentations, preparing project reports).
  • Assist in pedagogical activities (e.g., courses/seminars for students and practitioners).

Your profile

Qualifications required:

  • PhD degree in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, biostatistics or closely related fields.
  • Experience in working with nationwide health and administrative registers and large-scale databases.
  • Experience in record linkage and data management using large-scale register data.
  • Experience in conducting longitudinal register-based studies, particularly, with family-based and within-individual study designs.
  • Knowledge in methodology of target trial emulation study design.
  • Competence and proficiency in using analytic software such as SAS and Stata.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively both in a team-based research setting and individually.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Qualifications meriting (one or more):

  • Experience in working with the Swedish nationwide health and administrative registers (particularly, the Swedish Prescribed Drug Register).
  • Having a record of scientific papers in the area of pharmacoepidemiology published in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
  • Experience in conducting systematic reviews.
  • Experience in teaching (or being a teaching assistant) on the topic of research methodology, epidemiology or pharmacoepidemiology.

In addition, the candidate should be able to take initiative, ensure that project goals are consistently met, be flexible to manage projects effectively in a solution-oriented manner, and be comfortable having parallel activities. The applicant must be able to integrate well into the international and multidisciplinary environment and to drive processes forward in collaboration with different actors across diverse collaborative settings. Personal suitability is therefore of great importance.
