Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The postdoctoral position is based in Professor Richard Rosenquist Brandell’s research group in Clinical Genetics. Our group focuses on mapping molecular alterations in hematological malignancies. Our laboratory is located in the BioClinicum research building on the Karolinska University Hospital campus. The group works closely with the Medical Unit Clinical Genetics and Genomics at Karolinska University Hospital, as well as with Science for Life Laboratory and Genomic Medicine Sweden.

Your mission

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in cancer research, and more specifically hematological research. The research projects focus on large-scale analyses of genetic alterations in hematological malignancies, primarily chronic lymphocytic leukemia and lymphoma. The projects are translational in nature, allowing the integration of molecular data with clinical data. The projects will include, among other things, large-scale sequencing methods such as whole-genome sequencing and transcriptome sequencing, data processing and validation, and statistical analyses. The projects also include functional validation studies.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required in a field relevant to the position, such as cancer genetics, hematology, biomedicine, or similar. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

In addition, the following are required:

  • Documented experience in cancer genetics and hematological malignancies.
  • Documented experience with large-scale sequencing methods and statistical methods.
  • Documented experience with functional molecular biology and cell biology techniques.
  • Good ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills, as well as the ability to document the progress of work.
