Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Neuroscience

- with focus on education and research

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

At the Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS), world-leading research in neuroscience is conducted, from the molecular level to the societal level. We also have a large educational mission at the Department at basic and advanced level, such as e.g. Karolinska Institutet's psychologist, psychotherapist and optometrist program and the master's program in clinical optometry. The department has around 380 employees and roughly 200 registered doctoral students.

The Division of Psychology is very active in research and teaching. The division is responsible for the five-year psychology program and has major assignments within, among other things, the medical program, the physiotherapy program, the occupational therapy program, and an increasing number of independent courses. The division conducts outstanding research in several areas of psychology. We are now looking for someone who wants to contribute to our organization!

Description of the subject area

Learning psychology is a fundamental part of modern psychological science. Knowledge of learning has rapidly expanded through an increased understanding of its neural and mathematical foundations. This deepened understanding enables the development of models that describe how human behavior takes shape as a consequence of the individual's social environment. The focus on social learning serves as an essential link for understanding changes in individual behavior, whether in healthy or ill individuals, and the resulting effects at group and societal levels. The increasing research focus on neural and computational models in the field of social learning is also improving the precision of constructing evidence-based knowledge about the emergence, perpetuation, and treatment of psychological problems.

Your mission

The holder of the lectureship is expected to teach social psychology within the framework of the psychology program, lead and teach independent courses and conduct own research in the field of social learning, as well as contribute to ongoing research activities at the Division of Psychology. In research activities, you are expected to contribute methodological expertise, including experimental behavioral studies (both in laboratory and online environments), computational models of learning, agent‑based simulations, and brain imaging (fMRI). International research collaborations will also form part of the position.
