Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Are you interested in developing your research skills after obtaining your Ph D? Here is an opportunity to work with a very experienced epigenetics expert in an exciting groundbreaking project. The MedH department at KI offers stimulating and creative work environment. The position is limited to two years.

Your mission

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher for a project in epigenetics with focus on cellular quiescence and cancer. The goal of the project is to understand the function of chromatin remodeling and histone modifications in cellular quiescence and cancer. Epigenetic changes in quiescent cells are currently not well understood. Our previous work has pinpointed key roles for the chromatin remodeling complexes Paf1C and Ino80C and the histone modification complex Set1C/COMPASS in quiescence. We wish to understand precisely why these three epigenetic enzyme complexes are needed for cells to survive during cellular quiescence and how they may contribute to cancer.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered an advantage if you have obtained your PhD within the past three years, although in certain cases the degree may have been awarded earlier if there are special circumstances.

The PhD should be in a relevant field, such as epigenetics, molecular biology, cell biology, or related subjects. Experience with experimental work using epigenetic methods and bioinformatics is considered an asset. Particular emphasis will be placed on independence and scientific maturity. Good ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is a requirement.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
