We are looking for a Research assistant to join the Innate Immune Regulation team. Our team studies how the activation of innate and innate-like immune cells is controlled at the molecular level. We strive to address research questions at the interface of molecular immunology and infectious disease medicine using multidisciplinary approaches.
As a member of the Innate Immune Regulation team, you will support the team in identifying signals that allow innate and innate-like lymphocytes such as natural killer (NK) cells to recognize virus-infected cells.
You will learn and apply a broad range of methodologies and advance the team’s scientific goals in close cooperation with our local and international collaboration partners. You will take on responsibilities for biobanking of human samples and address defined research questions using cutting-edge techniques such as flow cytometry and ELISA.
You will also contribute to the scientific environment and work infrastructure of the team as well as of the Center for Infectious Medicine. Your tasks will include reporting of scientific results in oral and written form, participating in scientific meetings, and communicating effectively with your direct colleagues and broader network of collaboration partners.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate holding a Master’s degree in life sciences and with proven experience in cell culture of cell lines and primary cells.
Previous experience in the isolation of human immune cells using gradient centrifugation, for example from blood samples, is a strong merit. Previous experience in ELISA and flow cytometry is also merited.
Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written, are a requirement. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment is also a requirement.
An ideal candidate is enthusiastic and driven, a team player who enjoys contributing to a common goal in a flexible manner, and who is able to work independently according to standardized procedures. When moving forward with the desicion, we will consider both experience and personal suitability.
