Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The research at the unit of Integrative toxicology covers a wide range, from experimental and observational studies through to mathematical modelling and application of such research in health risk assessment. The aim is to highlight areas that are crucial for toxicological risk assessment, with a focus on health and safety at the workplace, indoor air quality and chemical accidents.

Your mission

You will be working with management and assessment of indoor air pollutants. You will be part of international, collaborative projects focusing on risk management and hazard assessment of indoor air pollutants. You are expected to participate in research and collaborative efforts that aim to improve indoor air quality with a particular focus on toxicological risks. The research tasks will include work with developing scientific bases for exposure guidance values, including case-studies on how new approach methods (NAMs) can be leveraged towards guidance value derivation. There will also be opportunities to analyse questionnaire and interview data, conduct document studies to map regulatory approaches to indoor air quality management and explore the potential role of indoor air guidance values. There may be teaching opportunities if the candidate wishes.

Your profile

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a degree in toxicology or related field. Knowledge about health risk assessment practices is required. Experience of performing or analysing health risk assessments will be given the highest weight. An understanding of chemicals regulation and indoor air quality governance is highly meritorious. High weight will also be given to skills regarding communication of research findings through peer-reviewed publications in English. Documented knowledge about chemicals regulation, regulatory toxicology, indoor air quality, systematic review methodology and/or metanalyses is an advantage.

The candidate should be able to work well within a team, have good cooperation and communication skills and should communicate well in English, both orally and in writing.

The position is for two years, with the possibility to extend for a third year.
