Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Meletis Laboratory, Karolinska Institutet

The Meletis Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience at Biomedicum is recruiting a Research Assistant for research projects investigating the molecular organization and identity of neuron subtypes in brain circuits controlling motivated behavior and decision-making. A particular focus is understanding circuit dysfunction in mouse models relevant to stress and mood disorders.

Your mission

You will contribute with experimental work and research operations in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. The position involves learning and using advanced molecular and cellular neuroscience methods, including single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, viral-genetic labeling strategies for connectivity mapping, and confocal imaging.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform molecular biology and histology workflows, including tissue processing and confocal imaging
  • Support single-cell and spatial transcriptomic experiments to define the molecular organization of brain circuits.
  • Assist with maintenance and handling of laboratory mouse models.
  • Organize experimental data; contribute to basic statistical analyses and documentation.
  • Coordinate lab resources and support smooth execution of ongoing projects.
  • Work collaboratively with researchers across multiple projects in the lab
