The Lopez laboratory, in the Department of Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, has an open position for a Research Assistant to investigate the molecular mechanisms and complex social behaviors associated with rapid-acting antidepressant treatments. The project involves the implementation of animal models of stress and anxiety and requires the analysis of multimodal high-throughput molecular and behavioral data, to deconstruct the underlying mechanisms responsible for antidepressant treatment response.'

Your mission

We are looking for highly motivated candidates to join our team and work with laboratory animals (mice). 

Suitable applicants should:

  1. Possess strong knowledge of animal models of stress and anxiety.
  2. Have solid experience in molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, and immunohistochemistry.
  3. Demonstrate hands-on expertise in library preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS).
  4. Have advanced computational skills with proficiency in Python or R.
  5. Be experienced in processing and analyzing bulk mRNA or epigenomic sequencing data.
  6. Have hands-on experience with single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics data analysis.
  7. Be familiar with interpreting NGS data from Hi-C and Capture Hi-C experiments.
  8. Have experience developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
  9. Candidates with knowledge or experience in machine learning methods will be prioritized.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a research assistant is one who has obtained at least a Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology, or any related field. It is considered as an advantage if you have already completed your Master’s degree.
