- with focus on research
Welcome to an internationally leading research environment in clinical epidemiology at the Department of Medicine, Solna, Karolinska Institutet (KI). This position offers you the opportunity to develop your research in clinically oriented epidemiology, as well as your clinical skills through the Department of Cardiology at Södersjukhuset.
Epidemiological research, both clinically and etiologically oriented, constitutes one of KI’s internationally strongest research profiles. In Sweden and the Scandinavian countries, there are possibilities to link together information from different data sources including national registers, creating unique opportunities to address clinically important research questions such as effects of treatments and other clinical interventions. Further, the development of artificial intelligence opens up entirely new possibilities for analyzing such large-scale data.
Within the subject area of clinical epidemiology, there are ample opportunities at KI for collaboration within related medical specialties including rheumatology, gastroenterology, neurology, hematology, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology and infection medicine. There is also a strong constellation of both traditional applied biostatistics and expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning, which is undergoing rapid development.
The clinical activities are taking place at Södersjukhuset within the Department of Cardiology, which also conducts intensive and intermediate care.
You will conduct internationally competitive clinical epidemiological research within internal medicine, and you are expected to lead a research environment that develops the research field in terms of questions as well as data and analysis methodology. You will be responsible for research and finances within your own research group.
You will collaborate with researchers within and outside KI, nationally and internationally, in the field for the strategic development of the research area, and for clinical research in general. You will also collaborate with the surrounding community, such as Region Stockholm, and participate in research supporting and developing efforts relevant to the methodological area.
You will participate in postgraduate education at Division of Clinical Epidemiology and at MedS in general, and contribute to teaching at the postgraduate level, for example within the KI-Region Stockholm Research School in Epidemiology for Clinicians.
As a at least a specialist physician, you will conduct active clinical work within the Department of Cardiology at Södersjukhuset, and you will promote research, teaching, and development in the clinical environment at the hospital.
The position will be divided into 50% at Karolinska Institutet and 50% at Södersjukhuset.
