The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of seven divisions conducting both research and education. The department is engaged in advanced research spanning basic to applied science. All divisions operate in close collaboration with the clinical units at Karolinska University Hospital. The Division of Clinical Microbiology conducts innovative multidisciplinary research on infectious diseases and contributes translational knowledge to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
Christian Giske’s research group at the Division of Clinical Microbiology is now seeking a motivated Research Assistant to study the potential of phage therapy against multi-resistant bacteria and the synergy between antibiotics and bacteriophages.
The position is a special fixed-term employment for six months (full-time).
We are looking for an engaged and knowledgeable Research Assistant in phage therapy to join our research projects related to human health. The research will involve laboratory work, advanced data analysis, and compilation and presentation of results.
We are seeking a motivated candidate with a broad background in phage therapy and related biomedical research fields. The work includes both practical and analytical laboratory tasks within molecular biology and microbiology, as well as handling of clinical samples and animal models.
Experience in data analysis using Python and bioinformatics methods is considered a strong merit, as well as proficiency in data visualization and interpretation using GraphPad Prism. Experience from work with bacterial samples under biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) conditions is required.
The role requires accuracy, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in English within an interdisciplinary research environment. To be eligible for the position, you must have completed at least four years of university studies in biology or biomedicine.
