Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Join a dynamic and collaborative research environment at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading medical universities. Our lab investigates how deregulation of the ubiquitin machinery disrupts cellular homeostasis, with a focus on SCF ligases in DNA replication tolerance and drug resistance. By combining advanced molecular techniques with drug discovery approaches, we aim to identify novel therapeutic agents to combat cancer progression and improve treatment outcomes.

Your mission

The research assistant will participate in a screening campaign to identify compounds targeting SCF–substrate interactions. The role also includes follow-up validation studies of compounds that interfere with replication stress tolerance. Responsibilities will involve experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation using a broad range of molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Your profile

We are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated individual with a degree in Biomedical sciences or a closely related field. The ideal candidate has a strong background in experimental molecular biology and a keen interest in cancer biology.

Essential qualifications:

A completed degree in Biomedical sciences or relevant life science discipline.Proficiency in standard molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9 editing, Western blotting, qPCR, flow cytometry). Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, and interpret complex experiments.

Desirable qualifications:
Basic bioinformatics skills, including familiarity with R or Python for data analysis. Documented experience with high-throughput screening or compound screening. Experience with cellular, molecular and biomedical methodologies related to replication stress, DNA repair and proteolysis.

What do we offer?

A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities. Our vision is to pursue the development of knowledge about life and to promote a better health for all. At Karolinska Institutet, we conduct successful medical research and hold the largest range of medical education in Sweden. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several good benefits through our collective agreement. And you get to practice freely in our modern wellness facilities, where trained staff are on site.
