We are looking for a committed and driven teacher at professor level who wants to take a leading role in developing research in infectious diseases. You will also have a central role in strengthening the clinical education within the medical program and contributing to the medical competence of the future.
The Department of Medicine, Huddinge (MedH), conducts strong and well-established education and research activities in infectious diseases at a high international level at Karolinska Institutet. The research includes both clinical and translational activities at the Center for Infectious Medicine (CIM).
Clinical research includes observational studies as well as successful clinical trials of treatments for infectious diseases. Infectious disease care is a central part of the department's work in both education and research in clinical medicine.
The Subdivision of Clinical Infectious Diseases (CID) within the CIM unit at MedH is responsible for the teaching of infectious diseases at the medical program on the Huddinge side, in close collaboration with the Medical Unit (ME) Infectious Diseases at Karolinska University Hospital.
To ensure continued research and research-related teaching of high quality, we are looking for a professor teacher for MedH at Karolinska Institutet.
The position is combined with a position at least as specialist physician at ME Infectious Diseases at Karolinska University Hospital, with a planned division of positions of 70 percent at Karolinska Institutet and 30 percent at Karolinska University Hospital.
The role includes conducting and leading research at a high international level, as well as further developing the department's research at CIM, with a particular focus on clinical and translational research.
The assignment also includes responsibility for ensuring that the education in Infectious Diseases at Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge is of high quality and develop so that it meets the infection panorama of the future. As responsible for infection education in Huddinge, you also collaborate with other hospitals in the region that conduct education in infectious diseases, so that the region's education in the subject is high-quality and effective. The assignment locally includes ensuring that the department has a person responsible for the infectious diseases course and to set up and carry out the education both theoretically and practically together with this person.
Your assignment also includes a managerial responsibility for the subdivision CID within CIM, where you, together with the head of CIM, are responsible for the development and strengthening of translational infection research at the department.

Further eligibility requirements
It is a requirement that you have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education, as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution. If you lack such education at the time of employment, you must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.
The employment will be combined with an employment as a specialist physician, assistant chief physician or chief physician in Infectious disease or another specialist subject that can be associated with employment at ME Infectious Diseases at Karolinska University Hospital and therefore you must have a Swedish MD with specialist competence in Infectious diseases or a related specialist subject that can be associated with employment at ME Infectious Diseases, as well as fulfill the National Board of Health and Welfare's requirements for practicing medicine in Sweden.
Since the position includes clinical work, you must, besides English, demonstrate proficiency in Swedish, Norwegian or Danish (C1 level according to the common European reference scale, CERS).
