The Nanomedicine and Spatial Biology Lab at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Karolinska Institutet, is seeking a talented research specialist to join our team. Our research focuses on investigating the roles of spatial organization in biological processes. To achieve this, we develop DNA nanotechnology-based tools to map and manipulate membrane protein nanodomains (e.g. Spratt, Dias et al., Nature Nanotechnology, 2024; Ambrosetti et al., Nature Nanotechnology, 2021; Shaw, Lundin et al., Nature Methods, 2014.)
Membrane proteins assemble into dynamic nanodomains that regulate receptor signaling and trafficking. Disruption of this spatial organization is implicated in diseases such as cancer and neurodegeneration. Nanodomains have the potential to be used as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. To realize this potential, we develop methods for large-scale, high-resolution mapping of the composition and nanoscale architecture of membrane protein nanodomains across physiological and disease states.
We are seeking a research specialist to drive innovative projects at the intersection of spatial biology and nanomedicine. The candidate will develop novel methodologies to analyze the spatial organization of proteins within cell populations and single cells.
For employment as Research Specialist at Karolinska Institutet, the eligibility requirements stated in the Guidelines for non-teaching positions at Karolinska Institutet are applied in relation to the established profile of employment.
To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented postdoctoral research experience.
