The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Karolinska Institutet consists of seven divisions and is active in many areas of laboratory medicine to advance human health in both the short and long term. The department has close collaboration with Karolinska University Hospital and conducts advanced basic, clinical, and epidemiological research. It is one of the largest educational departments at Karolinska Institutet.

The Division of Clinical Immunology is currently seeking an ambitious and motivated research assistant with a background in biomedicine or a related field, and hands-on experience in laboratory work. You will join Sidinh Luc’s research team, which focuses on the function and regulation of hematopoietic stem cells, as well as the mechanisms underlying development of leukemic stem cells and leukemia.

Your mission

As a research assistant, you will have a dynamic and responsible role. You will be in charge of genotyping and responsible for organizing and managing shared laboratory reagents, including ordering supplies. You will regularly conduct flow cytometry analyses to test and optimize new reagents and work with cell culture to some degree. Experimental work with animal models is an important part of the role. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. You are expected to contribute positively to the research environment through collaboration, engagement, and curiosity. The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in research and an ambition to pursue doctoral studies.

Your profile

Required qualifications 

  • A Master’s degree in molecular and cell biology, biomedicine, or medicine
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written

Desired qualifications

  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Experience working with mouse models
  • Experience with bioinformatics analyses

Personal suitability will be a strong selection criterion.
