We are looking for a research assistant to join the research group of Malin Wickström Näsman at the Division of Pediatric Oncology and Pediatric Surgery, Department of Women's and Children's Health, Karolinska Institutet. The division consists of interdisciplinary research groups conducting studies ranging from laboratory and clinical research to epidemiology and nursing science, all aimed at improving childhood cancer survival and the quality of life for affected children and their families.
The research in Malin Wickström Näsman’s group focuses on translational studies in childhood cancer, with a particular emphasis on identifying and molecularly characterizing novel drug therapies in both in vitro and in vivo models.
The position will focus on evaluating novel drug candidates for the treatment of childhood cancer using a variety of preclinical models. The work will include laboratory tasks such as designing and conducting cell and molecular biology experiments, performing drug screening and validation through viability, image-based, and molecular assays, as well as testing in mouse models. The role also includes shared responsibility for managing a transgenic mouse model.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a master’s degree in pharmacology, toxicology, biomedicine, or a related field. The candidate must have experience in cell culture, standard molecular biology techniques, and working with animal models (a FELASA function A certificate for rodents is required). Proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential.
Previous experience with drug screening methods and hands-on in vivo work using disease-relevant cancer models will be considered a merit. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and documentation abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
