The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

In this position you will have the possibility to work close to the development of novel immunotherapies for pancreatic cancer. The position involves both basic research and direct development of clinical products for immunotherapy.

Description of the subject area

Immunotherapy for cancer and in vivo models of pancreatic cancer.

Your mission

The candidate will work with in vivo models of pancreatic cancer and experience of microsurgery in this area is an asset. In addition, the candidate will work closely with the clinic with clinical samples from cancer patients. This also involves advanced work with cell cultures and analyses of these. You will be a driving force in the projects and also be involved in supervising students.

Eligibility requirements

For employment as Research Specialist at Karolinska Institutet, the eligibility requirements stated in the Guidelines for non-teaching positions at Karolinska Institutet are applied in relation to the established profile of employment.

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented postdoctoral research experience.

In addition to the aforementioned requirements for the position:

The qualified candidate must also have experience with in vivo cancer models and knowledge of immunological methods. This includes flow cytometry, biochemical analyses and cell culture work.

Meritorious for the position:

Knowledge of in vivo models of cancer, especially related to pancreatic cancer, is an advantage, as well as experience of conducting academic research abroad as the projects will be carried out in collaboration with universities abroad.

Assessment criteria

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown:

Capacity for performing projects related to immunotherapy for cancer. Also, taking part in and managing collaborative projects with clinics.

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown:

Technical expertise and ability to run projects linked to immunotherapy for cancer.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
