The Division of Clinical Geriatric, with over 100 employed and affiliated researchers are located both in Neo, Campus Flemingsberg and in the Q-building in Solna. We conduct research focusing on cognitive impairment, dementia, and other aging related disorders, and education, among other medical graduates. Our research is multi-faceted and is in close collaboration with leading institutions and clinics worldwide. The research is clinically oriented with an emphasis on diagnosis, prevention and treatment. The division has a close cooperation with the Medical Unit Aging within Theme Inflammation and Aging at Karolinska University Hospital.
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our interdisciplinary project exploring the complex relationship between kidney diseases and dementia disorders. Utilizing large-scale register data, biomarkers of kidney function and Alzheimer’s disease, and advanced epidemiological methods, the project aims to deepen our understanding of how these conditions interplay.
The position will be based under the primary supervision of Assistant Professor Hong Xu and Dr. Nanbo Zhu, and will involve working with rich, national and regional longitudinal datasets, including:
1) The Swedish Registry on Cognitive/Dementia Disorders (SveDem; www.svedem.se), a national quality registry that has enrolled patients diagnosed with incident dementia and conducted annual follow-ups since 2007.
2) The Swedish Renal Registry, a nationwide quality register that collects longitudinal information on patients attending outpatient nephrology care since 2008.
3) The Stockholm CREAtinine Measurements (SCREAM) project, a comprehensive electronic health care data extraction of all residents of Stockholm since 2006.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the study design, data cleaning and management, statistical analysis, interpretation of findings, and writing of articles, with particular focus on survival/longitudinal modelling and integration of clinical and biomarker information.
This position is a fixed-term employment for 12 months.
The position requires that you hold a Master's degree in medicine or another education deemed equivalent by the employer.
You have documented experience in statistical analyses (survival and longitudinal models) using software such as R, STATA, or SAS, and you are fluent in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Meritorious for the position is a good understanding of classical epidemiological designs and methods, as well as strong clinical knowledge in dementia and kidney diseases.
