The IMPACT research group – Marie Löf, Department of Medicine, Huddinge, Karolinska Institutet, consists of 30 people and includes both senior and junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and doctoral students. The research group has more than ten years of experience in developing digital lifestyle interventions (diet and physical activity) for primary and secondary prevention of obesity and lifestyle-related diseases in children and adults that can be delivered by healthcare. The group also leads several Swedish data collections in large international studies. Professor Löf is also coordinator of the newly started multidisciplinary research centre Centre for Nutrition.

Your mission

We are looking for one research assistant for a fixed-term position of one year. The work involves developing a system that delivers digital interventions. It includes applications for smartphones (both Android and iOS operating systems) as well as a server-side component which includes a web-interface for clinicians and clinical experts, a database, an analytics engine, and other supporting components. The work will be conducted in premises. The position suits a junior person with an interest in research. The research assistant will be part of Professor Marie Löf's research group IMPACT at Karolinska Institutet.

Your profile

Required qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Excellent knowledge in programming fundamentals and object-oriented programming
  • Excellent knowledge in the Linux operating system
  • Excellent knowledge in relational databases
  • Excellent knowledge of English

Optional qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge in software design
  • Experience in developing applications for Android
  • Experience in developing applications for iOS
  • Experience in developing applications in Flutter
  • Experience in developing web applications
  • Experience in the following tools: docker, tomcat, nginx, SQL, MongoDB
  • Experience in the following programming languages: Java, python
  • Experience in computer networks
  • Knowledge/interest in nutrition, nursing, physiotherapy, or medicine
  • Knowledge of Swedish
