The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

Join the newly formed Nilsson-Payant team to contribute to highly innovative and novel research that aims to understand basic biological processes that contribute to the emergence and pathogenesis of neglected RNA viruses.

Your mission

In this Research Assistant position, you will study and establish an unbiased Nanopore sequencing protocol for emerging RNA viruses, including arenaviruses and hantaviruses based on preliminary data in the Nilsson-Payant team.

Your profile

We are looking for someone with a strong interest and background in molecular virology and virus-host interactions. You should have a high level of responsibility and independence, and be able to communicate and collaborate effectively within our group and with other teams.

In addition to the above requirements for the position:

RNA-based techniques including RT-qPCR, RT-PCR, northern blots
Protein-based techniques including western blots, IFA
Cell and virus culture techniques
