The Picton lab at the Department of Neuroscience has an open position for a Research Assistant. The project will have a particular focus on the integration of sensory feedback in mice and will involve the use of electrophysiology, optogenetics and behavioral analysis. The Department of Neuroscience at KI offers a multidisciplinary and diverse research environment with a strong community and several leading labs in motor control neuroscience.

Your mission

In this Research Assistant role you will study proprioceptive feedback pathways for motor control. The selected candidate will investigate the functional properties and connectivity of proprioceptive neurons and will explore proprioceptive feedback pathways in the brainstem and spinal cord. The applicant should have experience working with mice and have a strong interest in understanding sensory feedback for mammalian motor control. The candidate should show a high level of responsibility and be able to collaborate with others in a team and possess good English communication skills.

Your profile

We are seeking applicants with a strong background in neuroscience. The ideal candidate should have experience in the following techniques:

  • Handling and performing simple procedures with mice
  • Dissection of mouse brain and spinal cord
  • Patch-clamp electrophysiology
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. immunohistochemistry, PCR, Western Blot)
