The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master’s programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, about 115 PhD students and about 140 employees.

The Community Nutrition and Physical Activity (CoNPA) research group focuses on promoting health through improved dietary habits and increased physical activity. Their interdisciplinary research includes epidemiological studies on the determinants of diet and exercise, as well as the development, implementation, and evaluation of interventions aimed at preventing obesity and chronic diseases both in Sweden and internationally.

Your mission

The research assistant will play a key role in supporting the development and coordination of competitive research proposals focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), health promotion and prevention, and child/adolescent health. This includes tasks such as scientific writing, compiling and synthesizing relevant background materials, coordinating international research partners, and assisting with project planning. The research assistant will work closely with senior researchers and project teams and contribute to the strategic development of research activities within the group.

In addition, the research assistant will support the administrative management and implementation of ongoing projects, including a multi-country initiative focused on NCD prevention in Sub-Saharan Africa. This work will involve developing educational materials, conducting systematic and scoping reviews, contributing to project coordination and logistics, and supporting regular reporting and documentation efforts.

Your profile

You must have:

  • Master's degree in Global Health.
  • Proven experience in working on the development of materials for the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
  • Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
  • Proven experience in scientific writing and report writing, preferably in connection with research applications and scientific publications.
  • Proven experience in scoping reviews and systematic reviews, including work in Covidence. This includes the ability to conduct background literature reviews of large amounts of information, synthesize results and identify knowledge gaps.

It is an meritorious if you have:

  •  Basic understanding of research project management (timelines, milestones) and the ability to clearly articulate research objectives, relevance and methodology.
  • Ability to develop simple budgets and the ability to identify new funding opportunities in line with the themes of the research group.
  • Ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish.

The role involves close collaboration with large international research consortia, which requires very good collaboration and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be comfortable interacting with partners from different cultural and professional backgrounds and will demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in both oral and written communication. Strong interpersonal skills, a structured and proactive approach and attention to detail are essential to ensure smooth coordination, effective teamwork and high quality of work across multiple projects and partners.
