Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We are looking for an ambitious and high-skilled postdoctoral researcher to join a creative and supportive team at one of the largest academic pharmacoepidemiology centres in Europe. At the Centre for Pharmacoepidemiology (CPE) at the Department of Medicine, Solna, KI, you will find a dynamic environment at the intersection of academia, regulatory authorities, healthcare, and the pharmaceutical industry (https://ki.se/en/meds/centre-for-pharmacoepidemiology). CPE has around 15 employees and a number of affiliated researchers, including epidemiologist, clinicians, statisticians, project coordinators, postdoctoral researchers, and doctoral students. You will contribute to high-quality studies within perinatal/reproductive pharmacoepidemiology conducted in population-based register data. CPE has decades of experience in this research area at a national, Nordic, and international level.

Your mission

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will join our team, whose goal is to advance the knowledge of drug safety in pregnancy with large-scale data-driven surveillance using Swedish nationwide health registers.

Your primary role as a member of our team will be to design and conduct advanced statistical analyses under the guidance of the main supervisor and her collaborators. This includes developing and preregistering detailed analysis plans, writing reproducible code for data processing and statistical modeling, and interpreting results within the broader context of existing evidence.

To support this, you will also assist with manual and semi-automatic systematic literature reviews. Furthermore, you will contribute to CPE’s pharmacoepidemiological studies on drug utilization and safety, using national health registers from Sweden and conducted in collaboration with researchers from other Nordic and international research groups. You will also be expected to participate in the supervision of doctoral or master’s students, as well as activities related to research at CPE and in the Clinical Epidemiology Division (KEP).

 Your profile

We are especially interested in candidates with a strong foundation in biostatistics or epidemiology, who demonstrate fluency in statistical coding for epidemiological studies and maintain a tidy, transparent, and reproducible workflow. We place great importance on personal suitability and are seeking a highly motivated employee who appreciates working in a team while also demonstrating a high level of independence.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • A PhD in biostatistics, mathematical statistics, epidemiology, public health, perinatal health, or a closely related field
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one statistical software (preferably R)
  • Documented hands-on experience with advanced epidemiological methods and statistical analysis of large datasets
  • Proven substantial contribution to research projects resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent academic English, both written and spoken

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in open science methods and reproducible data workflows, e.g., having produced and publicly shared analysis code
  • Well-documented and structured coding practices
  • Research experience in epidemiological or pharmacoepidemiological studies on perinatal/reproductive health
  • Knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in meta-research, research transparency, or reproducibility, e.g., study preregistration
  • Pedagogical interest, supported by pedagogical training or teaching experience
