Research assistant with a focus on understanding the basal ganglia function in health and disease through large-scale simulations

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

You will devote yourself to a research project under the supervision of leading  researchers with regard to both computational and experimental expertise on the basal ganglia system. The lab is localized at SciLifeLab (https://www.scilifelab.se), encompassing members from both Dept Neuroscience, KI and Dept Computer Science, KTH.

Your mission

You will assist in the building and simulations of biophysically detailed and multi-scale models of the basal ganglia nuclei. Development of specifically the model building and analysis tools will take place in collaboration with the KTH part of the lab, while the interpretation and analysis of experimental data needed for the modeling work will take place in interaction with the KI part of the group.

Your profile

You should have a university education from computer science, bioinformatics, neuroscience, or related fields. You need to already have experience from the computational neuroscience field and especially from biophysically detailed modeling using the Neuron simulator. Also knowledge on the basal ganglia or motor systems is preferred.

What do we offer?

A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests. Karolinska Institutet is one of the world's leading medical universities. Our vision is to pursue the development of knowledge about life and to promote a better health for all. At Karolinska Institutet, we conduct successful medical research and hold the largest range of medical education in Sweden.
