Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Rydén and Mejhert Laboratory investigates how alterations in human white adipocyte function contribute to cardiometabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and atherosclerosis. Our multidisciplinary team comprises 15–20 members and includes postdoctoral fellows, PhD and master’s students, and technical staff, conducts cutting-edge translational research. We are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a comprehensive preclinical laboratory at KI Campus Flemingsberg and a dedicated clinical research unit at Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge, enabling seamless integration from basic science to clinical application.

Your mission

We are seeking highly motivated and ambitious research assistants to join our laboratory. The assistants will work on cutting-edge research projects focused on adipocyte systems biology. A key aspect of the projects will be integrating multiple -omics datasets with clinical and functional assessments, leveraging advanced bioinformatics pipelines in R and Python. This initial six-month position offers the possibility of a six-month extension based on project needs, providing an opportunity for professional growth and impactful discovery in metabolic research.

Your profile

We are seeking highly motivated and skilled individuals holding a master’s degree or equivalent. The ideal candidates will possess:

  • Proven experience in multi-omics profiling, such as epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and/or metabolomics, with a systems biology perspective.
  • Hands-on expertise in single-cell omics and/or spatial proteomics/metabolomics, as well as familiarity with mass spectrometry data and downstream proteomics analysis.
  • Strong computational skills, including proficiency in R and Python, experience in Linux-based environments, and a solid grasp of widely used bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
  • A solid foundation in statistics, mathematical modeling, and/or algorithm development, with applied experience in machine learning and deep learning approaches for omics feature extraction and dimensionality reduction.
  • Experience managing and analyzing large-scale human cohort data, with the ability to design and interpret complex datasets.
  • Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong publication record.
