The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master’s programs and the researchers are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department has 12 research groups, about 115 PhD students and about 140 employees.

The position is based in the research group IMPAQT (Implementation and Quality). The aim of the IMPAQT group is to generate knowledge on how to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to improve quality of care globally. The position time limited with an extent of 100%. 

Your mission

The research assistant will support the preparation of grant applications by assisting with proposal writing and background research in the areas of health systems research, vaccination, and maternal and perinatal health. This includes conducting literature reviews, compiling relevant data, and helping to draft and edit sections of proposals to funding agencies. The role will contribute to the development of high-quality submissions that advance research on global health challenges and interventions. We may also ask the research assistant to contribute to other tasks depending on need.

Your profile

You must have:

  •  Master's degree in Global Health or other degree deemed equivalent.
  •  Demonstrated experience in academic or policy-related research - particularly in global/public health, health systems or maternal and child health.
  • Proven track record in writing research proposals or funding applications as part of a research team.
  • Proven skills in literature review and synthesis - including familiarity with tools such as Covidence and databases such as PubMed, Scopus or Web of Science.
  • Good academic writing and editing skills - preferably with experience in writing scientific texts or research proposals.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English.  

A good understanding of global health issues and terminology - particularly related to health systems, immunisation, and maternal and perinatal health is an advantage. Knowledge of data collection and basic analysis - qualitative and/or quantitative, including knowledge of relevant software (e.g. NVivo, Excel, SPSS or Stata) is also an advantage. Finally, experience of working in multidisciplinary or international research environments - particularly in the context of low -and middle income countries is an advantage. 

Personal characteristics that we look for is good communication skills, with an eye for detail and a solution-oriented approach. You work in a structured and meticulous way and can handle multiple tasks in parallel. You are a team player with good co-operation skills while being able to work independently. Great importance will be attached to your personal skills.
