You will be working at Karolinska Institutet, a world-class research-oriented medical university where you will closely work with a multidisciplinary team mostly from the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology and from external collaborators. The team is consisting of medical professionals, including radiologists and epidemiologists, and technical experts such as image analysis algorithm developers, hospital physicists and biomedical engineering scientists. You will have the opportunity to work on clinically important questions by integrating the knowledge and the expertises from the multidisciplinary team that aims at improving human health.
The position primarily involves developing image analysis algorithms to predict future hip fracture risk using opportunistically acquired CT images. There will also be opportunities to engage with other clinically significant research questions. A central focus will be on designing computational methods for medical image analysis, which may not necessarily rely entirely on statistical learning techniques, depending on the nature of the problem and the available clinical data. Research findings are expected to lead to publications in method-oriented or radiology-focused journals. Writing clear and maintainable code documentation will be an important part of the work, supporting long-term research continuity. In addition, the role includes contributing to the teaching of PhD and medical students.
