Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb

Join a leading research environment at the Karolinska Institutet, where we explore the genetic and molecular foundations of psychiatric disorders. At the KI Psychiatric Genomics Institute (KI-PGI), you'll collaborate with internationally recognized researchers and contribute to cutting-edge projects in psychiatric genetics and multi-omics integration. This is a unique opportunity to deepen your skills in both molecular analysis and epidemiological research within a world-class, interdisciplinary team. Work with us to help advance the understanding of complex mental health conditions.

Your mission

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant with a solid background in psychiatric genetics and epidemiology to join our team for a two-month project. The work will focus on individual genetic risk measures and the integration of multi-omic data, such as transcriptomics. The successful candidate will contribute to the analysis of multi-omic and genetic data in human samples, manage register-based epidemiological data, and perform integrated analyses of molecular genetic and epidemiological measures.

Your profile

You have recently completed, or are about to complete, a Master’s degree in Epidemiology or a related field. You have experience working with Swedish register data, as well as population-level and individual genetic data—ideally including polygenic risk score calculations. Proficiency in R and Linux is essential, and familiarity with multi-omic data (e.g., transcriptomics) is a strong advantage. You have excellent communication skills and are fluent in both written and spoken English.
