The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). Your mission

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant with a strong background in psychiatric epidemiology to join our team for a two-month project focused on unraveling the relationship between substance misuse and schizophrenia. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing substance use disorders and schizophrenia, leveraging Sweden’s exceptional population-based register data and genetically informed epidemiological methods.

Your profile

You have recently completed, or are nearing completion of, a Master’s degree in Epidemiology or a related discipline. You have hands-on experience with Swedish register data and a solid understanding of epidemiological study designs and analytical techniques. Proficiency in R and SAS is required, and familiarity with genetically informed study designs is highly desirable. You thrive in collaborative environments, possess excellent communication skills, and are fluent in both written and spoken English.
