Research Assistant

The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations. We are now recruiting a research assistant to work in the group of Assistant Professor Daniel Sheward, see https://ki.se/en/mtc/research/researchers-at-mtc-a-o/sheward-group.

Your mission

The work will focus on the production and evaluation of pre-clinical mRNA vaccines. Further, it will include molecular cloning, and the production and purification of mRNA as well as its formulation in lipid nanoparticles and administration to mouse models. You will also work with characterization of induced antibody responses using pseudovirus neutralization assays.

Your profile

You have recently completed (or will very soon complete) a Master program in Biomedicine or equivalent, and you have experience working with animal (rodent) models, mammalian cell culture, and standard molecular biology approaches. You are fluent in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of Swedish would be highly advantageous.

The ideal candidate would have experience with pseudovirus assays, mRNA production, purification and lipid nanoparticle formulation and in vitro translation.
