Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The research group of Jonas Muhr is studying how stem cells are regulated in the brain and its derived tumours. One important focus of their research is to examine molecular mechanisms preventing malignant stem cells from contributing to tumour growth. The Muhr group is addressing these questions at the protein and genome-wide level as well as in orthotopic tumour models in mice.

Your mission

The successful candidate will work together with members of the research group and examine how the malignancy of glioma stem cells is regulated through the modification of kinase controlled intracellular cascades. The work will include mass spectrometry-based analyses of protein modifications and how these molecular events affect the survival and self-renewal of glioma stem cells both in vitro and in vivo.

Your profile

We are currently looking for a highly motivated person. A successful candidate for this position should have a broad knowledge base in molecular biology and cell biology. It is essential that the candidate has documented experience working with genome-wide techniques and protein analyses. The candidate should have a PhD in stem cell biology, developmental biology, cancer biology or equivalent and has typically published significant scientific articles relating to this area of research. However, we stress research expertise when assessing applicants.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
