This position will be part of Prof. Peter Bergman’s group at the Department of Laboratory Medicine (Labmed) and will be under the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Rodrigo Morales Castro. The group is establishing a zebrafish-based preclinical platform to screen for novel drugs modulating tissue inflammation and regeneration. Dr. Morales Castro has a vast experience with zebrafish experimental models and Prof. Bergman is part of the EU-project IN-ARMOR, which is developing a novel class of immune regulators for therapeutic applications.

Your mission

The research assistant will focus on evaluating the toxicological and pharmacological effect of novel rationally designed drugs in zebrafish models of inflammation and regeneration. Additionally, the person will support routine laboratory tasks such as handling solutions and genotyping of animals. The position is full-time and with a duration of 6 months.

Your profile

The candidate must have a master’s degree in toxicology, pharmacology or a related field. The candidate must have documented on-hands experience with zebrafish models, specifically in toxicological assessments, functional assays, RNA extractions from embryos, qRT-PCR, and gene expression data analysis. Experience with live imaging, analysis of fluorescent data, microbiology, and molecular biology is meritorious.
