Your mission

The Mjösberg group studies the differentiation, regulation and function of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) and T cells in humans, and how these cells contribute to pathology in mucosal organs such as the gut and airways  (Clinical Lung and Allergy Research Unit (CLARU))The studies are translational as they involve advanced basic molecular and cellular immunological investigations of precious human tissue samples to discover novel disease mechanisms, therapy targets and biomarkers. The group is internationally recognized in the field through several high impact publications in recent years.

The main responsibilities for the laboratory manager will be to support the group’s work through organizational, administrative (approx. 20%) and research-related (approx. 80%) activities. The research-related duties include interaction with our clinical collaborators, collection and processing of lymphocytes from various types of fresh human tissues, including dissection of particular tissue structures. The applicant will also perform flow cytometric and spectral analysis (BD Symphony and Cytec Aurora) and sorting (BD FACSAria and SONY sorter) as well as multiplex spatial protein analyses. Also other experimental methods will be used. The administrative duties will be related to maintaining a good laboratory work environment, ordering, preparing documentation for different types of applications and permits, organizing databases and data sets. The applicant will also handle the group’s social media platforms and the website. It is expected that the applicant participate in project meetings, supervise students and other researchers if necessary, as well as contribute to other common lab duties.

Your profile

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in the field of biomedicine, medicine or immunology. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The candidate must be very familiar with tissue processing, isolation and culture of primary cells. Experience in management of datasets and databases is a requirement, so is skills in multidimensional (>20 parameters) flow cytometric analysis and sorting as well as multiplex immunohistochemistry and microscopy. Furthermore candidate should be self-motivated and be eager to learn and take on new tasks in a dynamic research environment. The candidate should have good communications skills and a proven ability to interact effectively and work productively in an interdiciplinary team. The applicant must have excellent organizational skills, take on a leadership role when needed, be accurate and flexible, and have the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines as well as to handle multiple projects in parallel. Fluency in English is a requirement as well as some basic skills and willingness to learn Swedish.
