Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

In this new research team, we focus on using synthetic biology to solve important challenges in regenerative medicine. To this end, we design molecular tools and computer algorithms to predict and control cell behaviors useful for tissue repair. Specifically, our goal is to combine genome engineering tools (e.g., CRISPR) with prediction algorithms to enable data-driven precision engineering of cell identity and behavior, with a special focus on stem cells.

We are located at the Department of Laboratory Medicine, which consists of seven divisions that conduct both research and teaching. The department is involved in advanced research, encompassing both basic and applied research. All divisions operate in close collaboration with clinicians at the Karolinska University Hospital. The Division of Biomolecular and Cellular Medicine (BCM) focuses on the use of cells, cell products, and modified biomolecules as new therapeutic agents, as well as the identification and study of suitable biomolecular and cellular targets for therapy and diagnostics. The division is also connected to the Karolinska ATMP Center.

We now seek two research assistants with a strong background and hands-on experience in CRISPR technology, molecular cloning, and cell culture. Experience with stem cells, single cell RNA sequencing, and bioinformatics analyses is highly meriting.

Your mission

We seek an ambitious and highly collaborative team player passionate about pushing the frontiers of regenerative medicine by programming complex cell behaviors for next-generation cell therapy.

Your profile

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in biomedicine and biotechnology, ideally with experience in bioinformatics, and be passionate about tackling grand challenges in regenerative medicine using synthetic biology.

The candidate must:

  • Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology or a related field, with ongoing or completed advanced studies in Medical Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a similar area.
  • Have hands-on experience in essential laboratory techniques, including PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, molecular cloning, bacterial transformation, cell culture, transfection, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence.
  • Be proficient in English and be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative, yet having the ability to work independently. We are currently a small, dynamic group where members are expected to be responsible team players that help each other out. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and the ability to collaborate effectively within the team.

What do we offer?
