The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. It is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 70 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.

Your mission

The research assistant will be involved in two projects that will be conducted in parallel for one year:

  • A secondary data analysis aiming to identify the blood-based biomarkers that are most associated with adherence to dietary patterns in Swedish older adults.
  • A pilot project aiming to collect dietary data in the context of the Swedish National study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen using an innovative artificial intelligence-based approach.

You will be expected to contribute to project design and participant recruitment and carry out data collection and cleaning, linkage to food composition databases, statistical analyses, interpretation, and presentation of results.

The research assistant will be employed 1 year full-time.

Your profile

We are looking for a motivated nutritionist with experience in epidemiology. The candidate:

  • must hold a master’s degree in nutrition (or similar) by the start of employment;
  • must hold a bachelor’s degree in nutrition (or similar);
  • must have previous research/work experience related to epidemiology (ideally biomarker-based and geriatric);
  • must have previous research/work experience related to participant recruitment, data collection and cleaning, or linkage to food composition databases
  • must have good analytical/programming skills (e.g., STATA, R) and experience working with large datasets;
  • must have excellent oral and written English skills;
  • should have a positive attitude towards team-work;
  • should be eager to learn.
