As a research specialist, you are active in the unit for the Division of Renal Medicine led by Professor Peter Stenvinkel and belonging to the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology. You will be placed in Associate Professor Bengt Lindholm's research group. Together with an interdisciplinary team consisting of clinical and statistical experts, researchers at different career levels, laboratory personnel and healthcare personnel, you will study the causes, course, complications, treatment and prognosis of medical kidney diseases.

The position is a fixed-term employment of 6 months at 20% scope.

Your mission

As a research specialist, you have solid experience and knowledge of metabolic disorders, nutritional status and cardiovascular risk factors in patients with chronic kidney failure. Your main role involves research and, if time permits, also the management of postdoctoral researchers and writing applications for research funding.

In collaboration with clinical epidemiological-statistical expertise, specialists in medical kidney diseases and biomedical analysts, the relationship between mitochondrial-derived peptides, advanced glycated end-products (AGEs) and malnutrition in patients with chronic kidney failure is investigated.

Your responsibility will be to analyze and clarify the above-mentioned relationships based on blood tests, nutritional status and other data from patients with chronic kidney failure. Based on this, you will write scientific manuscripts and compile results for publication and presentations at scientific meetings.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

The applicant must be detail-oriented and able to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment. Qualifications include experience in managing patient databases, analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and integrate clinical and basic research data, and the ability to produce high-quality scientific publications.

  • Scientific excellence in the field of chronic kidney disease, its treatment and metabolic, nutritional and cardiovascular complication
  •  A strong publication track record in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals

  • Experience in supervising postdoctoral researchers
  • Documented ability to secure competitive research funding
  • Experience in international collaborative research projects
