The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet conducts research and teaching within immunology, infection biology, cell biology and cancer. MTC has about 40 research groups and our key words are multidisciplinary, bridging, national and international collaborations.

We are now recruiting a research assistant to work in the group of Professor Gunilla Karlsson Hedestam, see https://ki.se/en/mtc/gunilla-karlsson-hedestam-group.

Your mission

You will work with both wet and dry lab tasks to characterize antigen-specific B cell receptor repertoires. The work will focus on generating high-throughput sequence data and analyzing the results with a range of specialized analysis pipelines developed in the group. The work will also include the isolation of monoclonal antibodies from single B cells using RT-PCR, cloning and production of recombinant antibodies in mammalian cells and functional analysis of such antibodies as well as antibody engineering.

Your profile

You have recently completed (or will very soon complete) a Master program in Biomedicine.

In addition to the above requirements for the position:

  • A robust experience working with multiplex PCR, next generation sequencing and standard molecular biology approaches applied to the analysis of adaptive immune receptor genes
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Keen to learn different software tools and use basic programming to analyze biological data.

Meritorious for the position:

  • Experience with immune repertoire sequencing and expression of recombinant proteins in mammalian cells
