Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, is looking for a Research Specialist.

Our translational research program is focused on designing therapies for the treatment of immunological diseases. The Research Specialist will join our dynamic Stockholm-based team and play a vital role in the discovery and evaluation of new therapeutic biological products. Our expanding program offers several opportunities to lead projects from the benchtop and into the clinic.

Your mission

We are seeking a self-motivated, proactive, passionate, and collaborative individual who shares our determination to solve problems in medicine. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scientific research as well as hands-on experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Write protocols and independently perform laboratory experiments.
  • Summarize and maintain databases of research data.
  • Use graphics and statistical software to analyze data.
  • Interact and collaborate with other researchers in the lab environment and present data to the management team.

You will also be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all timelines and objectives are met. Active participation in scientific discussions is an important aspect of the role. Additionally, you will take responsibility for routine equipment maintenance and quality control.

Eligibility requirements

•    Applicant must have a Master of Science in Engineering, Biotechnology, a PhD in Protein Science, and a continuous post-PhD working experience in academic research for at least one year.
•    Strong technical skills engineering small protein domains to confer target-specific interactions, including calcium-dependency interactions.
•    Hands-on experience with affibody, antibody design and functional characterization, including SPR, ELISA, and flow cytometry.
•    Experience in culturing of immune and cancer cells.
•    Ability and willingness to learn new concepts and techniques.

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

•    Strong knowledge of immunology.
•    Strong experience with protein characterization techniques.
•    Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature.
•    Experience in preparing scientific reports and presentations.
