The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is a department at Karolinska Institutet and an interdisciplinary research institution within the broad field of environmental medicine. IMM conducts cutting-edge research within the areas of environmental and occupational medicine, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics with the aim of clarifying how environmental and lifestyle factors affect our health. IMM also serves as a scientific advisor to public authorities within the area of environmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national and international expert groups.

Research group

The unit of intervention- and implementation research for worker health is a multidisciplinary group that consists of around 15 researchers in the field of implementation science, occupational health, social science, public health, political science, health promotion and occupational health psychology. The unit combines research on effective methods for the identification of risk factors for ill health and the promotion of health in the workplace, with a strong focus on intervention and implementation research.

Your mission

We have an opening for a post-doctoral fellow wishing to work on two research projects: In one of the projects, you will use data from a large implementation study aimed at preventing mental ill-health among school staff. The other project focuses on flexible work arrangements in academia and its impact on health and psychosocial work environment factors. Your role will include data-cleaning, data-management, advanced statistical analysis, writing scientific articles and contributing to Swedish reports.

The position is temporary for 12 months.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with documented experience in research on the psychosocial work environment and occupational health and/or mental health, demonstrated through scientific publications. Experience in quantitative data analysis related to psychosocial work factors in relation to health is considered a strong merit. Solid knowledge of advanced statistical methods and proficiency in statistical software such as R, STATA or SPSS is required. The working languages are both English and Swedish.

You have strong communication skills and the ability to interact both socially and scientifically with other members of the research group, as well as with internal and external collaborators. Furthermore, you are self-driven and responsible, with a strong motivation to contribute to the success of the research. Personal suitability is of great importance, and we also value qualities such as flexibility, accuracy, ambition, independence and the ability to present research in a clear and engaging manner.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
