Join Per Svenningsson's Research Lab, part of the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, located in the state-of-the-art research facility Biomedicum. The lab being one of the leading Parkinson's Disease (PD) research groups, focusing on translational neuropharmacology. We use a multidisciplinary approach that combines biochemical, histological, pharmacological, molecular biology, and behavioral techniques to uncover the mechanisms behind PD and develop new therapeutic strategies.

Your mission

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled research assistant to contribute to our innovative research on Parkinson's disease. You will work closely with a dynamic team of researchers, PhD students, and postdoctoral fellows to establish and study advanced neuronal models of PD. Explore genetic predisposition for Parkinson's disease, disease-modifying mutations, investigate organelle dynamics, and participate in preclinical mechanistic studies - all aimed at developing disease-modifying treatments and understanding various neurobiological aspects of PD.

The responsibilities of this candidate in the lab are as follows:

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and analysis of pre-clinical experiments studying Parkinson’s disease
  • Assist in ex-vivo techniques such as immunostaining, RNAscope, advanced imaging
  • Routine laboratory work such as analysing data, ensure of proper storage of materials etc.
  • Work with human or animal tissue samples
  • Interact with PhD students, postdocs and researchers in the lab
  • Troubleshoot issues in experimental setups or data collection

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology
  • Ability to learn new methodologies/techniques
  • Prior experience in histology techniques is necessary
  • Previous experience with in-vivo work is preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with statistical software and data analysis is necessary
  • Strong knowledge in English is required, knowledge in other languages is advantageous
