The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

The Division of Neurogeriatrics consists of about 65 employees. The division conducts experimental and translational research related primarily to Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, but also more general molecular mechanisms with biomedical relevance are studied. The division is mainly located in BioClinicum, KI Campus Solna, and partially in Neo, KI Campus Flemingsberg.

Your mission

We are looking for a research assistant who can contribute to ongoing projects in Professor Linus Jönsson's research group. These projects focus on the economic evaluation of new diagnostics and treatments for Alzheimer's disease, using machine learning methods.

As a research assistant, you will:

  • Develop and implement deep learning models, such as transformer architectures and LLMs, to analyze large health data sets
  • Contribute to research projects in the prediction of disease progression, healthcare consumption and cost trends
  • Prepare data, perform model validation and participate in publishing scientific articles
  • Collaborate with researchers from different disciplines and contribute to method development within AI for health economics

Your profile

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A master's degree or higher in, for example, computer science, statistics, engineering physics, health informatics or other relevant education
  • Good knowledge of Python and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Experience working with machine learning, especially deep learning and transformer-based models
  • Interest in health economic applications and working with large, complex data sets
  • Good teamwork skills, ability to work in a structured manner and communicate effectively with colleagues.

This is a full-time (100%) fixed-term position for 6 months.
