Core facilities were all established to meet the needs of the university’s own scientists, and they are constantly evolving to provide the latest techniques and knowledge within their fields of expertise. A research infrastructure specialist position is now available in the Small Molecule Mass Spectrometry Core Facility. The core is located in the Biomedicum building within the Unit of Integrative Metabolomics (in the Institute of Environmental Medicine).

Your mission

As part of the expansion of our analytical core facility, we are seeking a Research Infrastructure Specialist to work in the Small Molecule Mass Spectrometry Core Facility. The role requires an individual that is passionate about method development and the delivery of methodological solutions for mass spectrometry-based small molecule analysis. The role includes supporting, driving and evolving our capabilities in targeted metabolomics and lipid mediator platforms, as well as the development of customized methods based on the needs of our users. The successful candidate will also be integrated into the integrative metabolomics research group, where you will collaborate with team members to transfer and implement developed methods into routine practice.

Your profile

To be eligible for an employment as Research Infrastructure Specialist the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise and been awarded a PhD or a qualification from a foreign higher education institution deemed equivalent to a Swedish PhD. The applicant must also have demonstrated technological and methodological expertise in LC-MS.

The successful applicant should have the following skills:

  • A PhD is required, preferably within a field relevant to the position.
  • Demonstrated technological and methodological competence in mass spectrometry and chromatographic separation techniques (LC and SFC).
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • The ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A highly motivated individual with strong social skills, able to work independently as well as part of a team.

It is considered an advantage if the applicant possesses the following skills:

  • Experience in designing and performing small molecule mass spectrometry analysis experiments, especially in the lipid mediator field.
  • Experience in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, including problems related to equipment performance (e.g., LC-MS and automated sample processing systems).
