We are looking for a passionate researcher (scholarship holder) on advancing breast cancer research to join our multidisciplinary team of translational scientists, physicians, statisticians, basic researchers and computational scientists. The candidate will be supervised by Dr. Ioannis Zerdes and will be part of the translational breast cancer group led by Professor Theodoros Foukakis.

Duties

The selected postdoctoral candidate will work on identifying and validating immunotherapy biomarkers and explore novel therapeutic targets in breast cancer. The main tasks will include performing flow cytometry, in vitro assays, PBMC isolation, organoids and working with mouse models to explore the immunological aspects of breast cancer. 

Entry requirements

Postdoctoral scholarships may be established for foreign researchers who pursue their merit in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.

A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.

To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.

The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.

Your Profile: We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated candidate with a strong background in immunology and cancer research. The ideal candidate should have:

  • A PhD in medicine, immunology, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Experience in flow cytometry, in vitro assays, and working with mouse models.
  • Previous experience in translational research, particularly in immunology and cancer.
  • Data analysis skills (optional but advantageous).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with fluency in English (both oral and written).

Location:

The research group is located at Bioclinicum in Solna, within the Department of Oncology-Pathology at Karolinska Institute. The postdoctoral scholarship will be at Radiumhemmet (the Cancer Research Funds of Radiumhemmet). And the scholarship holder will be affiliatied to the research group at Department of Oncology-pathology. 

Type of scholarship

The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
