The Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK) carries out both preclinical and clinical research in many areas, including molecular psychiatry. Around 450 researchers, doctoral students, teachers and technical and administrative staff belong to MMK.

Catharina Lavebratt's research group at MMK has a research interest in understanding molecular mechanisms behind psychiatric disorders, to enable better diagnosis, prevention and more individualized treatment.

Description of the subject area

Of particular interest to this advertisement is research regarding neurobiological mechanisms in anorexia nervosa, as well as responsibility for the Spatial Biology section at the KIGene core facility.

Your mission

You are expected to independently lead the research regarding neurobiological mechanisms in anorexia nervosa and the associated team. You are also responsible for the Spatial Biology section at the KIGene core facility, including the platforms and personnel involved.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Principal Researcher, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise. The applicant must also be a Research Leader and have established their own line of research. The applicant should furthermore have shown documented, high-quality scientific production, particularly in the last six years and have the potential to energetically drive their research forward as well as be recognized nationally and internationally. The applicant should also have obtained good, long-term and preferably external funding and have the potential to obtain further external funding.  The applicant should have shown teaching and supervision experience and demonstrated good leadership qualities.

To be qualified for this position, the following requirements must also be met:

- Documented long-term research experience, as well as own established research profile, in the neurobiology of anorexia nervosa;

- Documented long-term experience of working with animal models for anorexia;

- Documented experience of working with a stem cell-based model for anorexia;

- Documented experience in main supervision of doctoral students;

- Documented experience of work within a  core facility;

Assessment criteria

- Scientific original work, its quality and quantity with special consideration after the postgraduate training.

- Scientific independent ability demonstrated through leading and senior authorship.

- Review articles and other scientific publications.

- Presentations and scientific assignments at international congresses.

- Research grants obtained in regional, national and international competition.

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

- many years of experience in research regarding the brain's regulation of appetite and weight

- experience of working with the GeoMX and CosMX platforms for spatial biology

 - national and international cooperation network in the field of eating disorders

It is meritorious that the applicant has shown

- postdoctoral stay outside Sweden
