Description of the subject are

We are looking for a professor in tissue biology, with special competence in fibrosis- and tissue regeneration research. Fibrosis and tissue regeneration represent two opposing aspects of the wound-healing process, with fibrosis limiting the potential for full tissue recovery. This is particularly critical for the adult mammalian central nervous system, where lesions lead to scarring on the expense of regeneration. Understanding how fibrosis is linked to regeneration failure is thus key for the development of new therapeutic strategies. A particular goal is to identify the cellular origin and differentiation cascade of scar-forming fibroblasts as well as endogenous stem/progenitor cell activation. The focus lies on non-regenerating organs, including but not limited to the mammalian central nervous system.
